Obituary of John Lyons

John M. Lyons passed away June 1, 2009 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. Born July 2, 1932 in Summersville, WV he was the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Bailes) Lyons. John served in the US Navy from 1952 to 1956 earning the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. John retired from Diversified Manufacturing as a supervisor. He was a 50 year member of B. Leo Dolan Post 410 American Legion, Past Commander and served in the Color Guard for 18 years. John was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 319, Navy/Marine Club and also several other social clubs. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and living life and enjoying his family to the fullest.
John is the husband of Nancy (Hotchkin) Lyons of Olcott and the late Patricia (Bracken) Lyons. He is also survived by his children William (Colleen) Lyons, Thomas (Rosemary) Lyons both of Lockport, Robert (Sandra) Lyons of Connecticut and Mary Kay (James) Musto of Lockport; grandfather of Kaitlin, Lauren, William, John, Jason, Jacob, James, Sarah, Matthew Lyons, Stephanie and Erik Musto; step father of Kathleen (Alan) Giles of Gasport and Kelly (Carl) Reggenitine of Lockport; step grandfather of three and step great grandfather of one; brother of Katherine Meloon, Joseph Lyons both of Lockport and the late Mary Anna Mulheron and Thomas Lyons; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
