Obituary of Lillian Hayden

Lillian M. Hayden, 92, passed away on April 7, 2009, at Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home, North Creek, NY surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Tonawanda on March 23, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Rose (Kontos) Wasvary. While living and raising her fami1y in Lockport, she was an avid bowler and golfer, winning many local tournaments, and club championships. She was employed by Harrison Radiator. After raising her children Lillian attended Bryant &amp; Stratton where she received her degree in secretarial skills and worked until her retirement at Westinghouse in Buffalo. In her younger years Lillian was a Red Cross volunteer &amp;quot;grey lady&amp;quot; at Lockport Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, especially day lilies, sewing and stamp collecting. After Lillian's retirement, she and Bob lived in their ski house in Holland, NY and in the winter lived in their condominium in Murrells Inlet, SC. Due to her declining health Lillian most recently moved to Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home in North Creek, NY. She was predeceased by her parents; husband J. Robert "Bob" Hayden whom she married May 1, 1943, brother William Wasvary, and sister Mary Ellen Spaulding. Lillian is survived by four sons W. Michael (Margaret) Hayden of Aiken SC, J. Timothy Hayden (companion Teresa McHuge) of Blenham NY, J. Lawrence (Monica) Hayden of North Creek NY, and R. Dennis Hayden of Lockport; grandmother of Christian, Sarah, Desiree&amp;#39;, Trevor, Joseph, Russ, Sam, Matt and Andy; great-grandmother seven; sister of Anne Bensley of Medina and also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friend may call Friday 7-9 in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home for their loving care in Lillian's final days. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friday, April 10th 7-9 in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport <h3>Services</h3> Saturday, April 11th at 10 AM in the funeral home <h3>Interment</h3> St. Patrick's Cemetery
