Obituary of Shirley Bewley

Shirley M. Bewley passed away April 6, 2009 after a long illness in Niagara Hospice House. Born July 28, 1923 in Depew, NY she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Irene M. (Smith) Meckle. Shirley graduated high school and went to become a Registered Nurse graduating from St. Francis School of Nursing, Buffalo. She also owned and operated Cards & Gifts in the Niagara Frontier Mall, Lockport for several years. Shirley was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and Mother's Club for several years. She was predeceased by her husband Robert W. Bewley on June 4, 1997 and also by her daughter Anne E. Bewley Johnson on August 28, 2006.
Shirley is survived by her children Charles W. (Patricia) Bewley of Canastota, NY, Robert C. (Mary) Bewley of Gasport, John E. Bewley of Lockport, James R. (Lynn) Bewley of Olcott, Jean M. (John) Pouthier of Wilson and Beth A. (Patrick) Costello of Lockport. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
