Obituary of Ruth Tomtishen

Ruth A. Tomtishen of Lockport passed away April 4th 2009 in Hospice House. Born September 5, 1930 in Lockport, she was the daughter of James F. and Ruth O'Connell Conley. Ruth was a telephone operator with New York Bell for 40 years retiring in 1993. Ruth played piano and organ and was the former organist at St. Mary's Church in Gasport. She was a member of the Pioneer Club and enjoyed knitting playing cards and spending time on Lake Ontario with her family.
Ruth is the mother of Mitchell (Kate) Tomtishen of Newfane, Paula (Dennis) Costello and Shawna (Burf) Bowman both of Lockport; grandmother of Melissa and Brian Bowman, Casey and Kyle Costello, Trevor and Jake Tomtishen. She also is the sister of Joan (the late Dr. Hugh) O'Neill of West Seneca and the late Thomas J. and James F. Conley, sister in law of Theresa Conley of Haddonfield, New Jersey and Marie Conley of Barker, NY also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where prayers will be offered Wednesday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 o'clock in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
