Richard Chaffin Obituary

Richard Earl Chaffin, Sr. passed away April 2, 2009 after a long illness. He was the son of Timothy Chaffin and Mary Jones Chaffin and the brother of the late DiVera Chaffin Ruiz. Born March 28, 1932 in Auburn, NY he lived most of his life in Lockport. He worked at Simon Saw & Steel and retired after 30 years. An avid sportsman, Richard was well known for his expert marksmanship and a passion for designing and creating exquisite hunting knives.


Surviving are his sons and daughters Rick Chaffin, Jr. of California, Carmen Chaffin of California, Charlotte Chaffin-Weber of Kenmore, Mark Chaffin of Lockport, Paul Chaffin of Lockport and Julie Chaffin Rice of Lockport. He also leaves his six grandchildren, Jason Chaffin, Sarah Chaffin, Kaylee Brown, Janelle Chaffin, Franklon Rice and Brittney Chaffin. Richard also leaves his longtime companion Shirley Chase of Lockport and several nieces and nephews.


Relatives and friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
