Jerome B. Nichols passed away February 18, 2009 in the VA Hospital of Buffalo. Born April 9, 1924 in Cheektowaga he was the son of the late George and Gertrude (Keane) Nicholas. Jerome served in the US Marine Corp. from 1943 to 1946 during WW II. He was a plant manager fro NY Telephone for 34 years retiring in 1981. Jerome was a member of St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church where he served on the first Parish Council. He was also a life member of both the Wrights Corners Volunteer Fire Co. Exempt and the Orchard Park Volunteer Fire Co. Jerome was a member of the VFW Lockport Post, volunteered with Meals-on-Wheels for over 20 years and enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the country.
Jerome is survived by his wife of 61 years Ilene (Roblee) Nichols of Lockport. He is the father of Thomas (Felicia) Nicholas of Erie, PA, Sally (William) Hard of Tucsan, AZ and Donna (Bruce) Nichols-Scott of Naples, NY. Jerome was predeceased by his brother John "Jack" Nichols.
Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 12 Noon at St. Brendan-on-the-Lake Roman Catholic Church, Newfane. Interment will be in Bath National Cemetery, Bat, NY. In lieu of flowers donations to the Newfane Food Pantry or to the Wrights Corners Volunteer Fire Co. Exempt would be appreciated by the family.
