Cindy E. Woodruff passed away January 2, 2009 in Briody Health Care Facility, Lockport,NY . Born December 8, 1940 in Buffalo she was the daughter of Herbert and Alyce (Bogel) Woodruff. Cindy was a Library Media Specialist specializing in cataloging. She graduated from Bennett High School in 1958. Cindy attended State University College at Geneseo 1963 earning her Bachelors Degree of Science in Library Science. She then went to Syracuse University in 1966 earning her Masters Degree in Library Science. Cindy then went on even further to UB in 1990 earning certificates for information sciences.
Cindy worked for two years as a cataloger at the old UB campus, four years as an indexer for the H.W. Wilson Company in NYC, she also worked 30 years at Niagara University as a cataloger with a major role in helping the library move from DDCS to LCCS and then to change from card to computer, retiring in January 2001, though she worked part time till May 2001. Cindy was a lifelong Christian, a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and supported missions to improve animal care and the role of young women in all societies.
Cindy is survived by her lifelong friend Barbara Stiffler and her family, sister Lisa Woodruff McDougall of Amherst; aunt of Caitlyn M. McDougall.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday 3-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Ave., Lockport. Memorials to Heifer Project International, PO Box 8058, Little Rock, AR 72203-8058 would be appreciated by the family.
