Thecla Marie Richards passed away December 15, 2007 at home peacefully, surrounded by her family.� Born April 10, 1931 in Lockport, she was the daughter of F. Ralph and Thecla Smith Foltz.� Thecla was a high school graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Lockport in 1949.� Upon graduation she worked for the NY Telephone Company, and then continued as a homemaker upon the birth of her first child.� After her husband's death in 1985, she operated Carpenter and Richards Plumbing and Heating until 1994.� Thecla was a member of St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society, and a former trustee and parish council president at the church and also a former president of DeSales Parents Guild.� Thecla loved being with her family, playing cards with her daughters and son-in-laws, boating, antiquing and she was also an avid reader.� Thecla was predeceased by her husband Robert R. Richards in 1985.

Thecla is survived by her children, Tonya M. (Charles) Taber, Shelley A. Richards, Sandra L. (Howard) Shank, Tracey E. (John) Dougherty, Maura B. (Charles) Yates, Shannon M. (Daniel) Yeager of Pendleton, and Tara M. (Kelly) Linnan. Grandmother of Kathleen Taber, Justin, Carly and Connor Shank, Colin Dougherty, Emma and Eamon Yates, Sarah, Anna, Matthew, and Ella Thecla Yeager, Keenan Linnan; sister of Gretchen (Charles) Foltz Ridler and Betty Foltz Ernest.� Thecla is also predeceased by her brothers Ray Foltz, William Foltz, and Robert Foltz.�

Family and friends may call Tuesday, 2-7 at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where prayers will be offered Wednesday at 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 76 Church Street, Lockport.� Internment will be at Glenwood Cemetery.� Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, or to a charity of one's choice.
