Obituary of Rita Upson

Rita Farchione Upson passed away March 27, 2010 in Niagara Hospice House. Born March 13, 1939 in Lockport she was the daughter of Patrick and Amelia (Granchelli) Farchione. Rita was a graduate from St. Joseph's Academy and worked for Delphi Thermal Systems / Harrison Radiator where she was a Registered Nurse for 39 years retiring in January of 2008. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and shared her gift with many, which included weddings and church events. Rita's life was devoted to her children, and she devoted every moment to them and their children. Rita will always be remembered as being a strong and compassionate woman that her children could always depend on. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, Rita would sing and dance with them and take them to Kindermusic. Rita was a very caring woman, always giving to those in need. She loved to decorate her home for the holidays especially Christmas.
Rita is survived by her three loving children Jennifer (Scott) Steiner of Lockport, Stephen (Melissa) Upson of Bakersfield, CA., and Michael (Alissa) Upson of Lockport; cherished grandmother of Jace Patrick Steiner, Clara Ann Upson, Michael Thomas Upson and step-grandmother to Brandon Steiner; beloved sister of Carol Andrews of Lockport, Joleen (John) Curry of Kalamazoo, MI and Donna (Lee) Schrader of Lockport; also survived by several dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Monday 3-6 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport. Entombment will be in Glenwood Mausoleum.
