Obituary of Marion Gaylord

Marion Doris (Lamont) Gaylord, 95, of Lockport, died Saturday morning, Nov. 29, 2008 at her home after a period of declining health.� She died in the home she and her husband, Roy F. Gaylord, built over 60 years ago. ��� The daughter of Earl D. and Doris (Quandt) Lamont, she was born Oct. 4, 1913 in Lockport, the fifth of nine children to reach adulthood. ��� She grew up a mile from her present home and was a life-long resident of Lockport. A graduate of Lockport High School in the class of 1932, she had operated a book search service from her home for many years and was and avid reader and knitter.� She also assisted her husband as a bookkeeper in his automobile repair business on Church St. in Lockport.� Her home was a gathering place for her many relatives and friends who were always welcome. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lockport and a member of the Niagara County Historical Society. ��� Marion Gaylord always maintained an active interest in family, local and national events to her last days and had voted in the recent presidential election.� She was an inspiration to her daughters, as well as to her extended family, and will be greatly missed by all. ��� Mrs. Gaylord is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (Anthony) Link of Pendleton,; Jean (Josiah L.) Mason of Ashland, OH, and Martha Gaylord of Lockport; five grandchildren, Gretchen Link (Gregory) Viggiano of Glen Rock, NJ, Elizabeth Link (Charles) Russell of Penfield,, Andrew Gaylord Mason and Thomas L. (Kimberly)Mason of Ashland, OH and James C. (Patricia) Mason of Blanchester, OH; five great-grandchildren, Alex Viggiano, Jennifer Russell, Elizabeth Russell, Marshall Mason and Aaron Mason.� Also surviving are one brother, Raymond E. Lamont, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret E. Frombgen and Mrs. Florence E. Judd, all of Lockport, and many nieces and nephews and their families. ��� She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy F. Gaylord, on Aug. 3, 1986, and her parents, five brothers, Elmer J. Lamont, Frederick E. Lamont, Robert L. Lamont, Charles R. Lamont and George Lamont, as an infant, and one sister, Helen O. Shaffer. ��� A Memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Lockport on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Clarence Elliott officiating.� The family will receive friends in the Grigg Library at the Church one hour prior to the service.� Burial will be in the Budd Road Cemetery.�� Memorial gifts may be made to the Lockport Public Library, 23 East Ave.� <h3>Visitation</h3> Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 1-2 PM <h3>Services</h3> Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 2 PM
