Marion Townsend Obituary

Marion E. Townsend passed away March 18, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born September 11, 1920 in Lockport she was the daughter of Adam and Regina Yanicki. Marion worked for Norton Laboratories for several years and has been retired for 20 years. She was very instrumental in unionizing Norton Laboratories. Marion was a member of St. John the Baptist RC Church, UAW, Meals-on-Wheels, Eagles Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, golf, bowling and reading and especially enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Marion was predeceased by her husbands Stanley Janicki Sr. and Charles Townsend.


Marion is survived by her children Stanley Janicki, Irene (Jon) Kalls, Pauline Barber, Maxine Townsend, and the late Lenore Townsend; grandmother of nine and great grandmother of seven; sister of the late Stanley, Walter, Frank and John Yanicki; also survived by several nieces and nephews.


There will be no prior visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 27th at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 27th at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
