Obituary of Violet Meier

Violet I. Meier passed away October 2, 2008 in Niagara Hospice House. Born April 4, 1927 in Erie, PA she was the daughter of the late Francis L. and Stella Walters Swanson. Violet was a case worker for Niagara County Department of Social Services for 12 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. John's the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed being with her family, traveling and playing cards. Violet is survived by her husband George J. Meier of Lockport; mother of George J. (Laurie) Meier of Jamestown, Dennis Meier of Wilson and Stacey (Sandi) Meier of Phoenix, AZ; grandmother of Marshall, Taylor, Megan, Haley and Nate; sister of Donald Swanson of Basom, NY, Sally (Jim) Altenger of Union City, PA.; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the American Red Cross would be appreciated by the family. <h3>Visitation</h3> Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008 2-4 & 7-9 PM <h3>Services</h3> Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at 10 AM
