William L. "Bill" Ackerman passed away from a long illness August 2, 2008 in Austin, Arkansas.� He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years Betty V. (Newman) Ackerman.� Bill is survived by his six children Linda (Loretto) Sanmarco of Lockport, Garry Ackerman of Las Vegas, Susan (David) Carter, Cynthia (Gene) Delahunt both of Arkansas, Gregory (Cindy) Ackerman of Idaho and Deborah (James) Monteau of Antwerp, NY.� He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. � Bill worked and retired from Harrison Radiator of 38 years as a painter.� He took leave from his employment from 1942 to 1945 to serve our country and returned with two Purple Hearts and several other medals of honor with the Headquarter Co. 1st Battalion, 143 Infantry and 36th Infantry Division from Texas.� Bill lived in Western New York most of his life until he retired and moved to Florida.� Because of ill health he moved closer to family in Arkansas. � The Ackerman Family has requested donations in Bill's name to the Arkansas Hospice of Little Rock Arkansas, 5600 West 127th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204 where Bill and Betty spent the last of their days.
