Jacob P. Kern, Jr. passed away March 3, 2010 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born April 3, 1928 in Lockport he was the son of Jacob and Lydia (nee Rosenberg) Kern, Sr. Jacob was the owner and operator of Jacob Kern & Son's for over 50 years. He was very passionate about the Lockport Community, always looking to better it for the future. Jacob also had an extensive candy collection from all different time periods.

Jacob is survived by his wife of 56 years Joan (nee Gray) Kern of Lockport; father of Brenda Kern of Pennsylvania, Jacob (Catherine) Kern, III, Gregory (Delia) Kern, Eileen (Lanny) Kern all of Lockport, John (Cathy) Kern of Virginia, Dolores (Michael) Bell of Cape Vincent, NY, Lydia (Gregg) Kern of Buffalo and Joseph Kern of Lockport; grandfather of nine; brother of Jerome Kern of Lockport, the late Msgr. Walter Kern and Hubert Kern; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM to be celebrated in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport.
