William R. Knoop of Lockport passed away July 29, 2008 at home.� Born August 2, 1933, he was the son of Robert A. Sr. and Florence V. Adams Knoop.� William lived in Lockport all his life, were he graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1950.� William began his 54 year career in banking with M&T Bank in 1951 after returning from service in the United States Army.� He served in several different positions with M&T Bank during his career, but the most important position was that of a trusted friend and advisor to his co-workers and clients.� Clients would often visit the bank just to chat with Mr. Knoop and would often remark on his love for the history of Lockport and his ability to recall fine facts pertaining to the history of the City.� Besides local history, William also enjoyed family genealogy, cooking and collecting coins.

William is survived by his brother Paul Knoop.� He is the uncle of Kathaleen (Gary) Mullin of Lockport, Robert A. (Margaret) Knoop of Hollywood, FL, Theresa (Kevin) Kirkpatrick of Middleport, Lynn (Gregory) Kwiatkowski of Bowling Green, KY, Marybeth (David) Litchfield of Nashville, TN, and David (Laurene) Knoop of Middleport.� William is the brother of the late Robert A Knoop Jr. and Audrey G. Knoop, uncle of the late Sharon M. Knoop and great uncle to the late Daniel L. Kwiatkowski.� He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where a funeral service will be held at������� AM, Friday, August 1st.� Internment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.� Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094, would be appreciated by the family.
