Beatrice "Bea" Fitzgerald passed away July 6, 2008 in Lockport Memorial Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.� Born February 9, 1926 in Lockport she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Elsa (Bennett) Oates.� Bea was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and worked as a bank teller for Lockport Savings Bank for 25 years retiring in 1990.� She was a life long member of St. John's RC Church where she belonged to the St. John's Mother's Club, Ladies of Charity and Altar & Rosary.� Bea also worked at the Palace Theatre for a brief time she was also a member of the Senior Citizen Center in Lockport and Newfane.� She enjoyed dancing, the arts and was an avid reader.� Bea and her husband J. Howard Fitzgerald enjoyed wintering in Florida.

Bea is survived by her adoring husband J. Howard Fitzgerald of Lockport; loving mother of Edwin Fitzgerald of Seattle, WA and the late Michael Fitzgerald who predeceased her in 1996; beloved grandmother of Patrick Fitzgerald of North Carolina; loving sister of John P. Oates of Lockport; cherished aunt of Patrick (Debbie) Oates, Monica (James) Berry, Joseph Oates, Daniel (Amy) Oates, Matthew Oates, Leslie Oates, David Oates and Kathleen Bowen, Gerry and Lynn Fitzgerald, Sheila Tracey, Cheryl Eppelito and several other nieces and nephews; also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior visitation.� A memorial mass will be held Thursday at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport.� Memorials to the Lockport Public Library or to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
