Obituary of Ellen Hemmer

Ellen Jane W. Hayden Hemmer passed away Saturday May 31, 2008 in the Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility after a long illness. Born July 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late M. Fenton and Helen Kenney Whalen. Ellen Jane was a 1942 graduate of Lockport High School and worked for Niagara County Social Services as a clerk. She is predeceased by her husbands Howard A. "Hex" Hayden, who passed away December 6, 1976 after 30 years of marriage and William Hemmer, who passed away March 28, 2004 after 25 years of marriage.

Ellen was the mother of Molly (Robert) Ingraham of Fl., Joseph (Shonah) Hayden of Hamburg, Helen (Randy) Unterborn of Kendel, Jane (David) Barrancotta of Lockport and Mary Pat (Russ) Davis of Colorado and the step mother of Kathleen Hemmer Carr of Ca. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Ellen was the sister of Joseph (Kathleen) Whalen of Lockport, John Whalen of Atlanta and Mary Kay Curtin of Long Island.

Friends may call Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Thursday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials to the St. John's Outreach Center, 168 Chestnut St. Lockport,NY 14094 or to Alzheimers Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Srive Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221 would be appreciated by the family.
