Marian G. Hughes passed away May 30, 2008 in Briody Health Care Facility.� Born July 22, 1921 in Middleport she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Bernice (Rhinehart) Griswold.� Marian attended Bryant & Stratton and did clerical at the Board of Education and the Selective Service Office.� She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Women of United Methodist Club, was a Literacy Volunteer, a 4H Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.� Marian was predeceased by her husband George T. Hughes on February 4, 1995.

Marian is survived by her children Thomas K. (Candy) Hughes of Greensborough, NC, Peter M. (Susan) Hughes of Pittsburgh, PA, Lloyd K. (Jane) Hughes of Lexington, KY, Douglas L. (Sara) Hughes of Salem, OR and Carol (Roger) Gillings of Newfane; grandmother of Edward (Jennifer) Gillings, Mary Carol (Robert) Snyder, Sara (Vic) Thibault, Andrew Gillings, Adam Gillings, Suzanne Hughes, Laura Hughes, Kristin Hughes, Claire Hughes and Andrea (Chuck) Downing; great grandmother of eight; sister of Charles Griswold of Bloomfield Hills, MI, Ruth Zimmerman of Indianapolis, IN, Carol Murto of Sun City, FL and the late Lois Walsh; sister-in-law of Mary Hughes and Catherine Hughes; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday 4-7 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.� Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10 AM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue, Lockport.� Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.� Memorials to the Literacy Volunteers of Niagara County, 23 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094 or to the Gateway-Longview, Inc., 6350 Main Street, Williamsville, NY 14221 would be appreciated by the family.
