Obituary of Orville Strassburg

Orville V. Strassburg passed away peacefully in his sleep May 25, 2008.� Born September 4, 1916 in Pekin, NY he was the son of Wilhelm and Emma (Trippensee) Strassburg.� He served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 and 1948 to 1949.� During his years of service he served as 2nd Lieutenant in Burma as an MP overseeing the building of the Lido Road and helped to capture Herman Perry.� Orville earned several ribbons such as the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, WW II Victory Medal, Commendation Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and American Defense Service medal.� He worked as the Right of Way Manager for Niagara Mohawk for 42 years retiring in 1978.� Orville was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Club 60 and the morning retirees coffee at Burger King, Panera Bread and Wendy's for many years.� He enjoyed fishing, practiced reflexology for many years and cross country skiing with his wife at Bond's Lake until his 80's.

Orville is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary (McGonigle) Strassburg of Lockport; father of Susan (Calvin) Stoddard of Lockport, Sallie (Kenneth) Miller of Cuba, NY, William (Tammy) Strassburg of Rochester, NY; grandfather of Jeffrey Stoddard of Florida, Christen Stoddard of Rochester, NY, Mathew Miller of Bradford, PA, Jessa Miller of Scio, NY, Andrew Miller of Farmersville, NY, Tyler, Parker, Leah and Quinn Strassburg all of Rochester, NY; brother of Everen Strassburg, Myrlin Strassburg and Verna Farquharson; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday 9:30 - 11 AM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6965 Chestnut Ridge Road, Lockport where funeral services will immediately follow at 11 AM.� Memorials to the Bethesda Lutheran Home, 600 Hoffmann Drive, Watertown, WI 53094 or to the YMCA, 21 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094 for the new facility would be appreciated by the family.
