Obituary of Donna Dear (Wurzer)

Donna Lou (Wurzer) Dear went home to the Lord on April 27, 2008, after a six month hospitalization at Buffalo General Hospital, battling a second occurrence of cancer.� She was born June 7, 1962, daughter of the late Donna (Donald) Alexander and the late Donald (Joy Dear Clody).� She was the wife and soul mate of Douglas Wurzer Sr. and loving mother and best friend of Danielle K. Dear.

While attending Niagara Community College, she worked at her mothers business, LaPort's Restaurant and at the Presbyterian Home in Lockport.� After graduation she worked in security at Delphi Automotive before becoming a corrections officer in the Niagara County Sheriff's Department.� Donna Lou supported cancer research and had teams in the "Relay for Life."� She proudly walked in the Survivor's Lap the last five years after her first bout with cancer.

She was a member of the World Wildlife Federation and the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League (MAGDRL), where the family adopted her two "Big Babies", Bosco and Baylee.� She was a season ticket holder of the Buffalo Bandits Lacrosse Team and the Buffalo Bills, where for the last 25 years all were welcome at their motor home for food and drink.� She was also a member of the Lupus Alliance of Western New York, M.A.D.D. and the Humane Society.

Donna Lou was the sister of Donald Dear and Debbie (Jack) Warner both of Watertown, NY, Dannie (Late Susan) Dear, Davenee (Joe Kleitz) Dear, Gail Dear, Grace (Joe) Clark all of Lockport, Denise (Randy Willard) Dear of Gasport, Candace (John) Breault of WI. and the late Frank Dear.� She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call Wednesday evening 7 to 9 PM and Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where prayers will be offered Friday morning at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 391 Market Street, Lockport.� Interment will be at a later date.� Memorials to MAGDRL or to Relay for Life would be appreciated by the family.
