Obituary of Irene Hood

Irene Hood of Lockport passed away April 10, 2008 in West Virginia.� Born November 4, 1911 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late William and Anne (Windells) Bahrenburg.� Irene earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from Columbia Teachers College in New York City.� She worked for the Lockport School District teaching kindergarten at John Pound Elementary School for several years.� Before teaching in Lockport she taught for a year in Hawaii for Tunaho School.� Irene was a member of the sorority Alpha Delta Kappa, Chi Chapter, the Lockport Garden Club, NYS Retired Teachers Association, the Lockport College Club and the Rapids Bible Church.� She was also very active with Kenan Center and enjoyed working with pressed flowers, gardening, sewing and traveling.� Irene was predeceased by her husband Maxwell Hood on February 13, 1998.

Irene is survived by her son David G. (Sherri) Hood of Morgantown, WV.� She is the grandmother of AnnMarie (Michael) Johnson, Lisa (Mark) Mancuso and John (Kara) Hood.� Irene is also survived by her two great grandchildren Celestena and Maxwell Mancuso.� She was predeceased by her brothers William, Donald, Harry Bahrenburg and by her sisters Madeline Bahrenburg, Marguerite Dean and Alice Kellogg.� Irene is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Monday 12-1 PM immediately followed by funeral services at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.� Interment will be in Somerset Cemetery.�
