Antonio Casalinuovo Obituary

Antonio V. "Cas" Casalinuovo born January 4, 1929 son of the late Nicholas and Lena (Gervaise) Casalinuovo, passed away at the age of 79, the way he lived everyday of his life, surrounded by his family who he loved and cherished.� Cas retired after 45 years from Packaging Corporation of America where he was an ‘over the road' truck driver.� He also served in the US Army based in Ft. Monmouth, NJ.� While playing for the Ft. Monmouth baseball team he had the opportunity to catch Whitey Ford of the New York Yankees who was also based at Ft. Monmouth at the time.� He also spent most of his army career based in Germany.� Cas was one of Lockport's finest baseball players.� He was an outstanding catcher and third baseman while playing for the Olcott Hotel and the Newfane Merchants of the Niagara Suburban League.� He was an outstanding fast pitch softball player with the Wagner's Drive-In of the Lockport Fast Pitch Softball League.� When Cas's playing days were over he turned to managing the 1973-74 Midget A League Champion's Lions Club and also Ronson's Trucking of Ontario Fast Pitch League.� He was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed golfing.� He was president of the Lockport Bowling Association as well as a fine bowler.� He was also a member of the Lockport Umpires Association. �Cas touched so many lives in so many ways that he will always be with us, he is so much of who we are, we love him and will never forget him.

Cas is survived by his wife of 54 years Shirley (Mullen) Casalinuovo of Lockport; father of Anthony Casalinuovo of Lenexa, KS, Thomas (Karen) Casalinuovo and Tina (Mike) Forys both of Lockport; grandfather of Samuel, Joseph, Steven Casalinuovo, James, Michael, Jennifer Forys, Lena and Clare Casalinuovo and Kyle Wilcocks all of whom were very special to Cas; brother of Ronald (Barbara) Casalinuovo of New York City, Marie Morse of Lockport and the late Nicholas (the late, Geraldine) Casalinuovo, Jr.; dear cousin whom he treated like a son David (Lisa) Poole of Lockport; also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and brother and sisters-in-law.

Relatives and friends may call Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where prayers will be offered Monday at 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Joseph RC Church, 391 Market Street, Lockport.� Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.� Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr., Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380 would be appreciated by the family.
