Obituary of Ruth Downes

Ruth N. Downes passed away March 26, 2008 in Briody Health Care Facility.� Born July 30, 1910 in Buffalo she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Bruning) Latsch.� Ruth was a 1930 graduate from Buffalo State College earning her degree in education.� She taught for 39 years with the Lockport School District, teaching at Emmet Belknap and finishing her career at Roy B. Kelley.� Ruth was a member of the Western New York Retired Teachers Association, Lockport Gardners Club and Emmanuel United Methodist Church.� She was an avid bridge player.� Ruth was predeceased by her husband Dr. C. Gordon Downes in 1981.

Ruth is the aunt of Jack Downes of Lockport, Douglas Downes of Connecticut, Jean Patchin, Barbara Phillips both of Flagstaff, AZ and Phillip Goodrich of Minnesota; sister-in-law of Dr. Robert Downes of Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday at 2 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.� Memorials to the YWCA, Domestic Violence Program, 32 Cottage Street, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated.
