Obituary of Barbara Burnside

Barbara J. Burnside passed away March 24, 2008 in Niagara Hospice House after a lengthy illness.� Born August 15, 1938 in Silver Creek, NY she was the daughter of the late Harry D. and Marjorie (Summerton) Davis.� Barbara was a graduate of Fredonia High School.� She was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church for 40 years, 29 year member of the bell choir with the church and a member and past president of the Deborah Hanna Circle.� Barbara was also a member of the Myrtle Rebekah #84 where she served as secretary, was past president of the Rebekah Assembly IOOF State of New York from 1994-1995.� She was also the Past District Deputy for Niagara & Genesee Counties, a member of the Enterprise #88 Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, the Cataract #9 Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch Militant and served as president of the Department Association Ladies Auxiliary Patriarch of New York State.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 42 years Duane Burnside of Lockport, whom she married on March 5, 1966 in the Fredonia United Methodist Church; mother of Douglas Burnside of Lockport; sister of Ruth Nichols of Fredonia and the late Harry Jack Davis.� She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday evening 7-9 and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.� Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 AM in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 75 East Avenue, Lockport, NY 14094.� Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.� Memorials to the church or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the family.
