Obituary of Kenneth Hilwig Sr.

Kenneth Harry Hilwig, Sr., of Lockport passed away suddenly February 19, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Ken was born December 1, 1931 in Clarks Green, PA, the son of Harry and Esther (nee Cornell) Hilwig. He worked for the Lockport Union Sun and Journal, retired as the pressroom foreman after 39 years. He was a lifelong racing enthusiast and well loved race car driver of #41 at Ransomville, Lancaster and Holland Speedways. He also was a flagman and spectator, never missing a race at the "Big R" as Ransomville Speedway is known. All who knew him would say "He loved life and loved his wife" and he was known for his quote "Your actions speak louder than your words". He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Brenda Marie Trabert Hilwig; father of Kenneth (Sharon) Hilwig, Jr. of Lockport, Debra (David) Pilcher of Hilton Head, SC, Lorrie Jean Lynch of Grand Island, Dawn (Kirby) Totty of Nashville, TN and Wendy (Paul) Tourville of Charleston, SC. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and two sisters Mary Major and Sylvia Sheehan. Friends may call Monday February 22, 2010 from 4 to 6 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport where funeral services will be held Monday at 6 PM. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call Monday February 22, 2010 from 4 to 6 PM <h3>Services</h3> Funeral Services will be held Monday at 6 PM, at the funeral home.
