Obituary of Charles Wendling

Charles J. Wendling passed away February 13, 2010 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born March 3, 1931 in Boston, NY he was the son of the late Albert and Delia (nee Fiedler) Wendling. Charles served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He worked for 30 years as a machine repairman for Harrison radiator retiring in 1989 and he was also a weekend dairy farmer. Charles enjoyed hunting, spending time at his cabin, playing cards, antiquing, attending auctions, and doing his own shows. He lived in Appleton for 50 years before moving to Pendleton and was a life member of the Barker Volunteer Fire Company.
Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years Agnes (nee Underberg) Wendling of Lockport, whom he married on October 7, 1954 in Springville; father of Joan (Thomas) Class of Lockport, Anthony (Alena) Wendling, Stephen (Alexa) Wendling, Mary (Richard) Porter all of Texas, Raymond (Kimberly) Wendling of Medina, Cynthia (Robert) Ruitt, Caroline (Russel) Robinson both of Texas, Kenneth (Rebecka) Wendling of Arkansas and the late Elaine Delia Wendling; grandfather of twenty and great grandfather of eleven; brother of Albert (Anita) Wendling, Jr. of Florida, George (Florence) Wendling of Boston, NY, Mary (Ron) Wendel of East Concord, NY and Barbara (John) Keough of Appleton; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 5442 Tonawanda Creek Rd., Pendleton. Interment will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Barker. Memorials to the Pendleton Food Bank, 4143 Beach Ridge Road, Pendleton, NY 14120 or to Equi-Star Therapeutic Riding Center, P.O. Box 25, Newfane N.Y. 14108 would be appreciated by the family.
