Obituary of Robert M. Lewis

Robert M. Lewis, Sr., a longtime Lockport resident, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 after a brief illness. He was born in Latta, South Carolina on December 3, 1933, the son of the late Myres and Ozelar Lewis.
Mr. Lewis loved traveling, bowling, fishing, gardening, and playing cards. He had a great sense of humor and was very friendly and outgoing. He enjoyed spending hours in his backyard, especially talking with his best friend, Herman Singleton, about the good old days and current events. He retired from Simonds Steel in 1981 and worked for Akkron Rule Corporation for some years, then retired in 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Idell Lewis. He leaves six children; Chester Finn, Cynthia (Clinton) Corbin, Kevin Lewis, Robert (Sandra) Lewis, Brenda Lewis-White, Michelle (Martin) English, and is predeceased by son Jacob Lewis. He is survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He has one living sibling, sister Rosa Sanders, and is predeceased by the following siblings: Annie, James, Willie, Jacob, Gennie, Oliver, Joseph, and Sarah.
The family will be present at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, New York on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 pm & 7:00-9:00 pm, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 4:00 pm.
We celebrate the life of Robert Lewis Sr., who will be sadly missed by his loved ones.
