Obituary of Louis Proietti

Louis Proietti, 84, a World War II and Korean War Veteran and a Retired Bell Aerospace Employee, Passed away January 22, 2010, in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born in Lockport, NY, he was the loving son of the late Angelo and Josephine (Ranney) Proietti.
He served Two Tours of Duty in the Air Force during World War II and One Tour of Duty during the Korean War. In the Air Force, He started his enlistment in the Personnel Administrative Field and finished as an Administrative Clerk (S/Sgt) in the Intelligence Division at the Pentagon.
During the Korean War he was a member of the 6th Tank Battalion, 7th Cavalry Division, 24th Infantry Division. His Battalion landed in Pusan Korea, when it was just a perimeter, on August 14, 1950. Among his medals were the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service. He left Korea with the Rank of (Permanent) Master Sergeant. He ended his tour of duty Personnel Sgt Major of Camp Atterbury, Indiana. He had over 10 years service in Active and Reserve duty.
In Civilian Life he worked at Bell Aerosystems Co. for 341/2 years and retired while he was President of Local 1286 UAW. He was a member of St Josephs Church and All Saints Church. The Holy Name Society, and the ANJO Athletic Club. He enjoyed golf and playing poker.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 30 years, Helen (Archie) Proietti., four caring Sons, Thomas Proietti of Spanaway, Wa., Mark ( Kathryn) Farrell of Philadelphia, Pa., Dr Patrick (Anne) Farrell DVM, of Russell, Pa., and Dr. Paul Farrell DVM of San Diego, Calif., One Daughter; Denise (late James) McKnight of Lockport, NY. He was predeceased by another daughter Mary Jo Proietti Bowie, who died in 197 8 at age 25. He is also survived by one brother Joseph (Nancy) Proietti of Tucson, Az., and two Sisters, Laura (Vincent) Kater of Vista, Calif., and Genevieve (late Jesse) Andrade of Boynton Beach, Fl.; 8 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Sunday 3 to 7 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where prayers will be offered Monday morning at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 391 Market St., Lockport, to be celebrated by Fr. Nicholas Rossello. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
