Obituary of Lawrence L. Lederhouse

Lawrence L. Lederhouse passed away December 20, 2014 under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport on May 1, 1931 he was the son of Jesse and Irene Lederhouse. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 earning the National Defense Service Medal and sang in the navy choir. He worked for Harrison Radiator for 43 years where he was an oiler. Lawrence loved sports, playing baseball, basketball and bowling in high school and serving as team Captain, he also coached basketball at the YMCA, and he also liked watching his grandchildren play sports. He was known for his sense of humor, at Harrison Radiator he was a member of the Goofy club, and affectionately called "Goofy Papa" by his family. Lawrence was a member of St. Mary's RC Church in Lockport, where he sang in the choir and was an usher.
Lawrence is survived by his wife of 58 years Marcelene (Kunkel) Lederhouse of Lockport; father of Marc (late Paula) Lederhouse of Burt, Gerard (Wanda) Lederhouse of Medina, Garret (Jill) Lederhouse of Lockport, Stephanie (Larry) Hanel of Lockport, Janine Gately of Lockport, and Vanessa (Michael) McCrea of Memphis, NY; grandfather of eighteen and great grandfather of two; brother of Mike (Marge) Lederhouse of Lockport, Ruth Odle of Medina, Pauline Perkins of Lockport, Rose Ferrara of Florida, Loretta Witt of NY, and the late Vincent Lederhouse, Harold Lederhouse; also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Monday December 22nd, 4-6 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 23rd at 1 PM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or the Buffalo VAMC, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215, would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 23rd at 1 PM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
