Obituary of Henrietta Blake Merrill

Henrietta "Hattie" Blake Merrill was called home to be with her loving husband Donald
Merrill and the Lord Jesus Christ on January 20, 2010. Born March 18, 1921 in Brant,
New York to Florence and William Blake, she was also predeceased by her younger
brother William Blake Jr. in 2005.
She met and married her first husband George Palmer VanSchoonhoven on July 19,
1941. They settled in Kenmore, New York and had three children Bruce (Gina)
VanSchoonhoven, Diane VanSchoonhoven and Kevin (Kimberly) VanSchoonhoven.
On January 4, 1969Henrietta married her soul mate, Donald Merrill. She had her own
beauty salon on East High Street in Lockport for 15 years. For their retirement in 1980,
Hattie & Don relocated to Naples Park, Florida and lived there for 20 years.
She enjoyed gardening, baking and walking the beach with her dog Kita while collecting
seashells. She also meticulously kept a daily journal.
Survived by grandchildren Jennifer (Corey) VanErp, Amanda (Chuck) Masek, Kristen
(Jason) Cook and Kevin VanSchoonhoven II and by two great grandchildren Charlie and
Anna Masek.
The family will be present Saturday from 12-2pm at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home,
242 Genesee Street with a memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers,
memorials made in Hattie's name would be much appreciated to the Opportunities
Unlimited of Niagara Foundation, 1555 Fashion Outlet Blvd, LPO Box 360, Niagara
Falls, NY 14304.

The family will be present Saturday from 12-2pm at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street with a memorial service immediately following.
