Obituary of Timothy Tracey Jr.

Timothy F. Tracey Jr. returned to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 16, 2014. Born in Medina, NY on September 3, 1928, Tim grew up in Middleport, NY and graduated from Middleport High School. Following his service in the military, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in history from Niagara University. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947, spending over a year in Japan after World War II and joined the Reserve Officers Training Core (ROTC) while at Niagara.
As a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Tim served as trustee, lector and usher and was very active in Catholic Charities, serving as Chairman for St. John's. In 1978, Most Reverend Edward Head awarded Tim the Lay Award of St. Joseph the Worker in recognition of outstanding meritorious service rendered to St. John's. Tim served fifteen years on Pastoral Council for the Diocese of Buffalo and served four years on the United States Council of Catholic Bishops Advisory Council.
He joined Harrison Radiator in Lockport as an inspector in 1955 and retired in 1987 as warehouse superintendent for Harrison's Lockport facilities. He also volunteered and served on the Board of Directors for Eastern Niagara County Chapter of American Red Cross
Tim is predeceased by his older brother, James, his younger sister Mary (Hughes), and his parents, Timothy Sr. and Blanche Tracey.
Tim is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Virginia (Moran) of Lockport, his older sister, Grace (Tylec) of Middleport, sons Thomas (late Jolene) of Lockport and Brian (Joy) of Plano, TX as well as grandchildren, Matthew Tracey, Kelly Tracey and Robbie Tracey and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, October 19th from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 20th at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.
