Obituary of Dorothy Stowell

Dorothy M. Stowell passed away October 3, 2014 under the loving care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Buffalo on November 30, 1928 she was the daughter of Joseph and Gertrude (Wyant) Riff. Dorothy worked for Ridge Road Express where she was a driver for 36 year until the age of 80. Before being a bus driver Dorothy waitressed at Klein's Restaurant in Pendleton during the 1950's and early 1960's and then at LaPort's Restaurant for the remaining 1960's. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling around the world, gardening, ceramics, crafts, her cats and enjoyed driving many 'special' children on her bus. Twice she won awards for best garden when she lived at Leisure Acres.
Dorothy is survived by her children Irving (Michelle) Stowell of Kentucky, Barbara (Jeff) Harrington of Lockport, Debra (John) Rettig, Jeffrey (Kathy Saunders) Stowell both of Pendleton, Dianne (Jon) Wiley of Lockport and the late Charles Hayes and son-in-law Ray Kiff; grandmother of Keith (Andrea) Hayes, Lucas Hayes, Kerisa (Tony) Muffoletto, Alex Stowell, Brad (Jamie) Kiff, James Rettig, Travis Rettig, Christine (Tom) Lovewell, Desiree Wiley, DeAnna Wiley, and Dakota Wiley; great grandmother of eight; sister of Tom (Joanne) Mundaniohl, Dick (Adrienne) Mundaniohl, Evelyn Hahn, and the late Delores McNall and Velma Nerber; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, Oct. 5th from 6-8 PM and Monday, Oct. 6th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7th at 10 AM.
