Dear Kay and family. ..Please accept my sympathy on the death of your husband , father , and grandfather. I know what a terrible hole this will leave in your lives. He was a talented, gifted man who was treasured by this community; especially the children that he taught. I am so sorry.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I never had the pleasure of Mr. Burgess as a teacher but I certainly looked forward to summer performances in the clarinet section! Mr. Burgess genuinely cared about people and he always offered great teaching advice. A fabulous man and an inspiring musician and teacher. Our family is praying you through this time.

Kay, Barbara, Daniel: Please accept our heartfelt condolences on Dick's passing. Dick always expressed a keen interest in whatever we were doing, and seemed to be a fountain of relevant anectodes - most humorous - for whatever conversation warranted. I especially appreciate that he was able to bless my folks with some travel they otherwise would have passed on! May you feel God's comfort during your time of grief. Mack and Liz McKinney

My condolences to the Burgess Family. I have great memories of early Saturday morning private lessons, a great North Park Concert Band experience, and feeling well prepared to go on to the High School Band. Mr. Burgess shared a love of family, a passion for music, and the capacity to challenge his students. I must say he modeled an approach to teaching which I now use to empower my students currently. Thank you, Mr. Burgess....Our prayers go out to you, "Mrs. Burgess", and the kids. David Woody, III Ft. Worth, Texas

I was a student of Mr. Burgess's in the late 80's at North Park. He was, without a doubt, my favorite teacher I ever had. He instilled not only discipline, but confidence as well, to know that I could play the clarinet and play it well. That confidence spilled over into other areas and I carry with me now into adulthood. I wouldnt be who I am now if he had not been my teacher and have thought of him fondly very often over the years. My deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends. He was a great man.

1964-1967 @ North Park I was privileged to have Mr. Burgess later followed by Mr. Sadlo. Both put music into my life, later the union band together and I went to college and majored in music education and also taught elem. and junior high band for a short time. I especially think of Mr. Burgess every time I hear "The Music Man," a selection we played @ Bandtasia and he conducted. My mom used to say he danced to the music. Mrs. Burgess, my sympathies in your loss.
