Obituary of Carol F. Brown

Carol Fawcett Brown passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at her home in Lockport NY. Born on February 27, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Randolph R. and Dorothy (Eckis) Fawcett of Canton, OH. Born and raised in Canton, OH, Carol attended Lehman H.S., then in her senior year attended and graduated from Tucson Senior H.S. in Tucson, AZ in 1950. Afterwards, she attended the University of Arizona where she began her training as an artist and later studied and worked with professional artists. Throughout her life her art work expanded across several mediums including glass mosaic tile, silk screen prints, handmade papers, watercolor and watercolor mediums. She was the past President of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild, founding member of The Collage Association of Southern Arizona, and a member of The Drawing Studio of Tucson, AZ. Carol had a special talent. Her work was colorful and abstract and embodied vivid colors, shapes, contours of nature and people and was a reflection of her spirit and all that she saw. Her work was shown in many juried shows in several states and her paintings are included in private and corporate collections. Carol also donated her time to schools and her works to special causes. In her retirement years Carol and her husband Warren lived in the Benson area and then later Tucson, AZ where she and Warren enjoyed many happy times with family and friends. Together they built a solar ranch, grew grapes, garlic, rode horses and traveled to many places. In her spare time Carol loved to quilt. She designed and created many beautiful quilts for her family members. In recent years, Carol moved from Tucson, AZ to Lockport, NY, where she became a member of the Kenan Quilter's Guild and also a member of The Dale Association where she recently took part in a Pen Pal program at Charles Upson Elementary. She loved life and spending time with her family and friends. Among her greatest loves was to spend time at the family cabin at Hulbert Lake, MI where she enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and the beautiful nature of the area. Carol is survived by her daughters Ellen Murphy and Linda Schneider of Tucson, AZ, son Joseph (Sunday) Marstrell of Canton, OH, daughter Jennifer (David) Marotta of Lockport, NY, grandchildren, Tessa (Ignacio) Valencia of Tucson, AZ, Jennifer (Kevin) Lamb of Snyder, NY, Samuel D. Marotta of Lockport, NY, Michael (Emily), Jesse, and Samuel Marstrell all of Canton, OH, five great grandchildren, nieces Lisa Fawcett of NYC and Julie Fawcett of Maine. She was predeceased by her husband, Warren W. Brown, the love of her life, and her beloved brother, R. Richard Fawcett. A Celebration of Life will be held at Carol's home in Lockport, NY between 4 and 6 pm on Saturday evening, August 23, 2014.
