Dear R. Covell Family I am saddended by the recent loss of Bob. I worked with Bob in the Contracts Department at Birdair Structures and Sierra Research through the good times and some that were more challenging. Bob, in his special way, was the main reason for me being hired by Sierra Research. At the time, I was working for a different company trying to obtain an export license to ship a product to an overseas customer. So I contacted Bob at Sierra Research as I knew he worked on a lot of international contracts and asked him for his assistance. After a long discussion about the export license he asked "So did you call to talk about an export license or the job opening for a Contracts position Sierra Research?" He insisted that I send him my resume and apply for the position. Because of Bob, I was hired for the position and continued to work at Sierra Research/LTV/IDT/DRS until the facility closed last December 2013. (Another poor management decision) I've told that story many times to many people and thought his family would appreciate hearing it as well. We shared a lot of good times together and many laughs. Bob was the type of worker that you wanted on your team as he had the enabling ability to always get the job done. I am proud to have know Bob as well as I did and would some day again like to have a beer together while he smoked his pipe and told Corvair stories.
