Obituary of Barbara (Sugarman) Burhans

Barbara C. (Sugarman) Burhans of Lockport died on May 5, 2014 at her home. Born December 29, 1933 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of Martin and Emma Sugarman.
Barbara was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Bryant & Stratton College.
She was the office manager of The Harry H Moore Corporation for nearly 40 years.
Barbara actively supported her husband Bill's efforts in the founding of several organizations including Tuscarora Yacht Club, Niagara Packard Club and Burhans in America since 1660. They were members of Royal Canadian Yacht Club and The Ale and Quail Club.
Over the years, she enjoyed many activities that included sailing & cruising on Lake Ontario, "Book Club" & "Home Bureau" meetings, league bowling, antique car shows and playing backgammon. She also contributed to the restoration of the interiors of their antique Packard collection.
Her husband William E. "Bill" Burhans predeceased Barbara. She is survived by three sons, Mark (Debra) of Elba, Keith (Susanne) of Irondequoit, Bryan (Karen) of Tonawanda, and two daughters Lynn and Daryl of Lockport, her brother Louis (Nancy) Sugarman of Auburn Corners, OH and her sister Daryl (John) Martin of Edenton, NC. Her seven grandchildren, Karen, Gretchen, Lauren, Kristen, Allison, Sarah and William, also survive her.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 8 from 4 to 8:00pm at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street in Lockport. Funeral Service will be held at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Friday May 9, before burial at Cold Springs Cemetery.
