I was fortunate enough to have had Sister Rita's influence twice in my life. First, as Sr. Mary Martin, she was my 2nd grade teacher at St. John the Baptist in Kenmore. I loved her and thought she was beautiful! She taught me cursive handwriting and to this day, I think of her everytime I write in cursive. You can imagine my surprise when many years later, I was a 4th grade teacher at St. Rose of Lima in Buffalo, and Sister Rita joined our staff as a Reading Teacher. We never made the connection until one day talking about different places we had worked. When she mentioned St. John's and told me her former name, we were thrilled to have reconnected. I then moved to another state and Sister Rita wrote me the most wonderful letter of recommendation. She was a dear, sweet, lady, and I am sure she is already surrounded by little angels in heaven waiting for her to read with them. I will keep her in my prayers. Blessings to her family, Kathleen
