Obituary of Michel Gruszewski

Michel "Mike" Gruszewski entered holy sleep April 22, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House. Born in Pinsk, Poland on November 11, 1929 he was the son of Bazyli and Aleksandra (Szolomicka) Gruszewski. Mike worked for 30 years at General Motors of Canada where he was a tool setter retiring in 1981. Upon retirement he opened, Josie's Place on West Avenue, Lockport . He enjoyed farming, being outdoors, traveling, being with his family at their cottage, playing cards, dancing and his greatest joy was his family and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine (Czekaj) Gruszewski of Pendleton; beloved father of Diane (James) Tuohey of Lockport, Michael (Barb) Gruszewski of Pendleton, Helen (Richard Jr.) Mesi of East Hartford, CT, Richard (Amy) Gruszewski of Rochester, and Joanne (Brian) Klemer of Lockport; cherished grandfather of Michael, Laura, Jessica, Megan Gruszewski, Derek, Samantha Klemer, Anya and Isaac Gruszewski; loving brother of Luba (late John) Gorski, Peter Gruszewski, Natalia (lateToni) Trocha, Aleksander (Stasia) Gruszewski, and Helena Gruszewski all of St. Catharines, Ontario; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The Gruszewski Family wishes to thank the staff at Niagara Hospice for the loving care that they gave to Mike.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 24th from 2-4 and 6-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Friday, April 25th at 12:15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1 PM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 5442 Tonawanda Creek Road. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Pkwy., Amherst, NY 14228 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.

Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery.
