Helen Elizabeth Hawkes, loving wife, mother, daughter and sister, age 96, passed away April 9, 2014 in St. Ann's Home for the Aged, Rochester, NY. Born in Lockport, NY the daughter of the late Howard C. and Helen Gaughn Cain.
Helen Elizabeth attended St. John's Catholic School, St. Joseph's Academy and was the first graduate of St. Joseph's Business School. She was employed at Harrison Radiator Div. of General Motors until the birth of her first child.
Helen Married Joseph A Hawkes in 1943, he passed away in 1978, she is survived by her children Sheila (Robert) Carafice of Rochester, Peter Hawkes of Stroudsburg Pa. and Anne (Raymond) Ruff of Leesburg, VA.; she is predeceased by her grandson Joseph Carafice and is survived by her grandchildren Mary Ellen Carafice, Harry and Helen Hawkes, Trey and Susannah Ruff; and her great grandchildren Chase and Lucy Ruff and Lucas Roca. She dearly loved her sister Ann-Margaret Keleher, who predeceased her. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Christine Speck, Kathleen Holmes, Christopher Holmes, Michael Keleher, Judith Wiedl, Angela Patrick, John Hawkes and several great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday 2-4 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 AM in All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Memorials to St. Ann's Community Home for the Aged, 1500 Portland Ave, Rochester, NY 14621 or to the Presbyterian Home would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 AM in All Saints RC Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport.
