Matthew G. Johnston has peacefully passed away after a 74 day battle with metastatic melanoma on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 in Niagara Hospice House surrounded by many loving family members. Matt, a boisterous fun-loving guy with a devilish sense of humor was born in Niagara Falls, December 17th, 1959 to Harold D. and Evelyn Smith (Krieger) Johnston.
He was a lifelong resident of "Fun City" Appleton till he moved to Newfane to be closer to Mom, and was the primary caregiver and a great comfort to our Mom in her final days.
Matt enjoyed various activities: Sabre's and Bill's games, fishing, family poker games, bowling, darts, a good book, scary movies and "Three Stooges Marathons". He also attended Jamboree in the Hills concerts with his Buds.
He worked at Mayer Brothers, Oldham Saw until closing then followed the company south to help set-up and train employees and most recently Sun Orchards.
Matt is survived by brothers Harold Johnston Jr., Marc Krieger and sisters Valorie (Henry) Krieger Landon and Sheryll (Gary) Krieger Brewer. He is also survived by many loving family members - nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles, tons of cousins, good friends and his kitty Peanut.
