Obituary of Roland W. Dixon

Roland W. Dixon of Lockport, passed away Thursday February 27, 2014 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport site. Born November 12, 1938 in Hamburg, NY, he was the son of the late Roland W. Dixon and O'Della Surette Dixon Swain. "Rol" lived in Norwich, NY until the age of 10 before moving to Lockport. He was a graduate of DeSales Catholic High School, Class of 1957 after which he went to The Upson Company from 1957 to 1976 and then went to Corson's Manufacturing until they closed, that all with a two year interruption to serve his Country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He finished his working career as a Work Program crew Leader with the Niagara County Sherriff Office retiring in 2010. He was a member of the B.Leo Dolan Post 410 American Legion and the Lockport Knights of Columbus where he was a in the 4th Degree Assembly. In his youth he loved playing baseball and was a huge New York Yankee fan and enjoyed watching the the Sabres and the Bills. Rol enjoyed golf but his real enjoyment came with spending time at Sandy Pond with his family.
Rol is survived by his wife Patricia Lennert Dixon whom he married on April 25,1964; daughter Rolann (Mark) Ennis of Lockport and son Terry P. Dixon of West Seneca; grandfather of Connor and Quinn Ennis and Janna and Olivia Dixon; brother of Linda (Sam) Muscarella and the late Sandra Walsh. Also surviving are his step-sister Norma Weaver, brother in-law Jack Walsh, mother in-law Stella Lennert and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Friday February 28, 2014 from 7 to 9 PM and Saturday March 1, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated MONDAY March 3rd, 2014 at 11 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport, NY. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to the American Heart Association or the Lockport Little League in Rol's memory would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated MONDAY March 3rd, 2014 at 11 AM in All Saints Parish, 76 Church Street, Lockport, NY.

Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
