Obituary of John D. Chilcott

John D. Chilcott, age 74, passed away Monday, February 24th, 2014 at Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 11th, 1939 he was the son of the late Oscar Herbert Chilcott Jr. and Hazel (Hoste) Chilcott also pre-deceased by his brother Larry Chilcott.
John graduated from Clarence High School in 1957 and joined the Navy. He graduated from Aviation school and became a commercial pilot. He worked for Perry-Warsaw and Dansville Airport as a flight instructor.
He worked at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors for 31 years as a Tinsmith. John was very active in the UAW 686 Conservation Club, a member of the Environmental Coalition, the Pioneer Club, the Wilson Conservation Club, the American Legion #410, VFW and F & AM Akron Lodge #527.
John is survived by his wife, Martha (Pratt) Chilcott of 47 years and his brother, Charles (Chuck) Chilcott of Clarence, NY. Beloved father to Monica (Andrew) Krawczyk of North Tonawanda, John Michael (Kelly) Chilcott of Lockport and Eric (Lori) Chilcott of Getzville. Loving Grandfather of Rachel & Michael Krawczyk, Samantha & Erika Chilcott and Victoria & Gabrielle Chilcott.
John enjoyed fishing and boating, especially his trips to Black Lake and playing euchre. He truly loved his grandchildren: watching them play baseball/softball, riding horses and dancing.
Friends may call Thursday, February 27th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Prudden& Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY 14094. Prayer service will be held Friday, February 28th at 10:30 am at Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Msgr. Michael J. Yunk followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
