Obituary of Kay E. Mellenthien

Kay E. Mellenthien, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Newfane Rehab and Health Care Center. Born, September 18, 1940 in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Wallace Anderson. She was a member of the St. John's Altar and Rosary Society and sang with the Ecumenical Choir. Kay grew up in Seaford, DE, where she married on June 2, 1962 to her husband of 51 years, Richard N. Mellenthien of Lockport.
Kay was the mother of Judy (Richard) Farr of Indianapolis, IN, Robert Mellenthien, Donna Mellenthien and the late Richard N. Mellenthien, Jr. Grandmother of Stephanie (Jason) Drake, Julie (Jon) Sartain, Amanda Farr, Emily Farr and Melissa Farr; and great grandmother of Brody, Alexander and Coralyn Drake and Lucas Sartain. Kay is also survived by her brother J. Peter (Sandra) Anderson of NJ, sister, Susan (Frank) Price of Medina, OH and sister in-laws, Norma (late James) Handrich and Joyce (late Russ) Thilkey; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Kay's family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to all the nurses and aides on C-Wing at Newfane HCC, for there excellent care and compassion.
Friends may call Sunday 2 to 6 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery. Memorials to the Activity Fund, c/o Newfane Rehab and HCC, 2709 Transit Road, Newfane, NY 14108, would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.

Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
