Obituary of John Poyfair

John Edward Poyfair, Sr passed away July 2, 2009 in Cape Coral, Florida. Born September 26, 1920 in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick and Annie(Naylor) Poyfair. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy. John worked for Curtis Wright in Buffalo, owned Jack's Esso Service Station on Rt 31 for several years, and retired from Harrison Radiator in 1978. He was a member of several clubs and organizations including the VFW, Elks and the American Legion. He loved hunting, fishing, boating and old cars.
Jack was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Carmer) Poyfair in 1987. He is survived by his three children, John (Nancy) E Poyfair, Jr of Lockport, Darcy (Osman) Tokay and Roxanne (Charles) Crego of Florida. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Chris (Judy) Poyfair, Tammy (Darryl) Reynolds, and Jacquelyn Bronson all of Lockport, Shannon and Brandi Burke, Erik Tokay, Tesha (Daniel) Rojas and Jason Crego all of Florida. Also eight Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Frances "Bodgie" Lacey of Oakfield, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his two brothers Thomas "Bud" and Charles "Chuck" Poyfair both of Lockport. Also a dear friend Hazel Meadows of West Virginia.
Visitation will be Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where services will be held Thursday morning at 11 AM. Please visit www.pruddenandkandt.com to leave the family an online condolence.
