Obituary of Belle Tennies Bright

Belle Edna Tennies Bright, 94, of Lockport went to be with her Lord December 31, 2013 at Briody Health Care Facility. Born July 20, 1919 in East Randolph, NY. to John Tennies and Edna Flagg Tennies. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1937 and then worked as a buyer for the boys department at Bigelow's Department Store in Jamestown, NY. Belle married Clarence Bright July 18, 1948. The young couple moved to Niagara Falls and Belle worked as a teller at Marine Trust Bank in Lewiston, NY. After her sons were born the family lived in Wheatfield for 48 years where she was a fulltime mother and homemaker. Belle's love of family and friends was always evident in her special gift of hospitality. Her home and heart were open to one and all. Belle was active as a room mother and Cub Scout leader for her sons. She also enjoyed sewing and continued quilting until recently. Belle was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lockport for 40 years. Belle was predeceased by Clarence, her loving husband of 59 years, as well as a sister and three brothers. She is survived by three sons: Gary (Linda) of Phoenix, AZ; James (Betty) of Gasport; and Jon (Renee) of Charlottesville, VA. Also survived by eight grandchildren: Michael (Laurel), Jaime (Jens Hansen), Jonathan, Kimberly, Vanessa, Zachary, Jennifer (Simon Prewitt), Jaclyn, also ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the kind and loving staff at Briody Health Care for the wonderful care she received. Friends may call on Saturday, January 4th from 4 to 6 pm at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St, Lockport. A service will be held Sunday, January 5th, at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, Lockport officiated by Pastor Lewis Manwarren. Burial will be Monday January 6th, at 10 am at Wheatfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Niagara Hospice. <h3>Visitation</h3> Friends may call on Saturday, January 4th from 4 to 6 pm. <h3>Services</h3> A service will be held Sunday, January 5th, at 2 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, Lockport officiated by Pastor Lewis Manwarren. <h3>Interment</h3> Burial will be Monday January 6th, at 10 am at Wheatfield Cemetery.
