Obituary of John Beck

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Walter Beck, age 69, peacefully entered into rest on December 29, 2013, having lived a purposeful life. Born November 9, 1944 in North Tonawanda, NY, he was predeceased by his parents John and Hazel (Peters) Beck. John was the devoted and loving husband of Laurie (Arnold) Beck. John Beck was a proud local businessman for 25 years and a dedicated, active participant in his community. He founded Beck's Gold and Gifts, later to be known as Beck's Fine Jewelry. John was a member of and served as Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #41. He was a lifetime member of the Clinton Club, a member of the Niagara Police and Judges Association and a member of the National Jewelry Association. He belonged to First Presbyterian Church, where he was and elder, and Red Jacket Lodge #646. John was a proud member and supporter of the Four Seasons Players, enjoying immensely his "turns" on stage. John will be remembered by his friends and loved ones for his quick wit; that he took delight in making people laugh with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of stories and jokes. John willingly offered his considerable skills to anyone who needed them. His best loved spot on this earth was Conesus Lake, his family's summer home where he pursued his favorite past times, fishing, boating, hunting and bird-watching. Surviving John is a brother, Frederick (Gabriel) Beck and a sister, Ruth (Ben) Trame. Also surviving John is his dear mother in law, Etta Arnold, wife of the late Wesley F. Arnold, two brothers in laws Christopher Arnold and Brian Arnold, sister in law Heather Arnold, 14 nieces and nephews and 8 grand nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport on Friday 3 to 7 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11 AM. Memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, would be appreciated by the family.
