Obituary of Rafael Zapata

Rafael Zapata passed away December 10, 2013 in Niagara Hospice House. Born on April 23, 1940 in Harmigueros, Puerto Rico he was the son of Rafael and Aurelia (Cruz) Zapata. Rafael worked for Nabisco in Lockport for 22 years where he was a group leader. He was predeceased by his wife Joanne (Magnolia) Zapata passed away January 28, 2013. Rafael is the step-father of Mary (James) Vining of Lockport, James (Mary) Meacham of Medina, David Burdick of Pennsylvania, and Tom Meacham of Niagara Falls, NY; step-father-in-law of Liz Meacham; grandfather of Bob (Heather) Meacham, Brice Carullo, Carl Lee (Erica) Miller, Gabby Meacham, Lindsay Meacham, Crystal (Tom) Taylor and Pfc. Mathew (Christina) Burdick; 14 great-grandchildren; brother of Frank Zapata, Luz Maria Zapata, Malen Zapata, Ana Zapata of Puerto Rico, Ricky Zapata of New Jersey, Luis Zapata of Sanford, FL and Mercedes Zapata of St. Lucie, FL; also several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, December 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden &amp; Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 17th, at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
