Obituary of Anthony Woods

Anthony "Tony" S. Woods, Sr. passed away November 19, 2013. Born in New Haven, CT on September 5, 1949 he was raised in New Britain, CT, the son of the late Robert and Catrine (Mangan) Woods. Tony served in the US Navy from 1969 to 1973 earning the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, three Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for Don Davis Car Dealership where he was a salesman retiring in 2006. Tony was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the VFW, and the Lockport Umpire Association. He enjoyed sports being a New York Yankee and New York Giants fan and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Tony is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Burns) Woods of Lockport; father of Anthony (Melissa) Woods, Jr. of Liverpool, NY, Caroline Woods of Hoboken, NJ and Robert Woods of Lockport; grandfather of Maura and Molly Woods; brother of Stephen (Sharon) Woods of Westbrook, CT, Robert (Melanie) Woods of Milford, CT, Cecily (John) Dermody of Erieville, NY, and Marianne (Christopher) Ryan of Chesterfield, MA; son-in-law of James "Gene" & Mary Burns of Lockport; brother-in-law of Barbara Burns, Patricia Burns-Naughton, Eileen (David) Ludwig, Susan Stoness and Jill (Michael) Call; also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday, November 21st from 7 to 9 PM and Friday, November 22nd from 4 to 8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where prayers will be offered Saturday, November 23rd at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist RC Church, 168 Chestnut St., Lockport.
