Obituary of Robert Lute

Robert H. Lute passed away Friday, November 15, 2013, under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. "Bob" was born November 6, 1924 in Lockport, NY, the son of the late Fred and Virginia (King) Lute.
After high school Bob entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served until 1946, serving in the Pacific Campaign as a 3rd Class Radio Operator.
He and his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Schafer Lute were married in 1949 in St. Mary's Church. Bob went to work for New York Telephone as a switchman, retiring in 1986 after 38 years. Bob was quite active in the Communication Worker of America Local 1117 and served 25 years as president. He was also a member of the B. Leo Dolan Post 410, Navy Marine Club, Lockport Council Knights of Columbus and the Hartland Conservation Club. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and ham radio operator.
Besides his wife, Mary, he was the father of Frederick "Fred" (Dorothy) Lute of Lockport, Maryann (Patrick) Coletti of North Carolina, Karen (the late David) Miller of Lockport, and Virginia (Michael) Thompson of Lockport. Bob is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother of James Lute of Lockport, Richard (Patricia) Lute of Florida, Helen (the late Tony) Gailie of Sanborn, and the late Milton, Edward Lute and Margaret Donner.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, November 19, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013, at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094; or the Disabled American Veterans, VA Regional Office, 130 S. Elmwood Ave., Ste. 620, Buffalo, NY 14202, would be appreciated by the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013, at 10 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut Street, Lockport, NY.
