Obituary of Mary Coyle

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
At the glorious age of 93, Mary R. Coyle passed peacefully into spirit at her daughter's home. She was born in Lockport, NY on April 28, 1920 to Margaret (Piedmont) and Carl Warren (Mogavero). She is survived by her loving daughter, Christina M. Coyle (Fred Lenz) and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and fond friends. She is predeceased by her husband Earle "Sonny" J. Coyle (1985), parents Margaret and Carl Warren, and her brother Joseph E. Warren who passed away on August 6, 2013. The greatest gifts Mary leaves all stem from her insatiable curiosity, her creativity, and her love of people. Service to community was a constant throughout her life; Mary always had a "project" and enthusiastically engaged her energies to make her community a better place. As an active member of St. Joseph's Church she served for many years in the Altar and Rosary Society as a member and an officer. Over the course of her life Mary was an active member and officer of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, she served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and in retirement was active in the YWCA with The Closet and "29 and Holding." Mary and her dear friend Marjorie Clarke took great pleasure in exploring the Western New York region in search of interesting programs and destinations to share with fellow "29 and Holding" members. She served as a band librarian with the Lockport Community Band. Mary's chronic creativity was further shared with her cooking, knitting, crocheting and handicrafts. Mary's career spanned over 50 years having spent the first thirty years in the restaurant business; highlights include the Buffalo Airport Cloud Room, The Fieldstone and The Villa Capri as co-owner with her husband, Sonny, during the 1950's. From the early 1970's until she retired in 1993 Mary welcomed the customers into Montgomery Ward from her post in the furniture department where she worked as a salesperson. For nearly 20 years Mary enjoyed wearing and representing Sarah Coventry as a direct seller in the Lockport area.
